NEW BRIGHTER FASTER.
A very good article on the tech of the Space Shuttle program from Megnut.

It is one of those things as an engineer it so hard to learn. Once during my co-op I had to design and build a simple 2 axis robot arm. My first design would have cost around $4000, using the newest servos and running off of a laptop. My boss suggested I use pneumatics and a simple time dependent control box. The final design cost just under $600.

Until that moment it never even entered my head that the newest technology was not always the best solution.

He fell into the rhythm by the fifth day. The dreams came every night and he walked everyday through morning mist and into afternoon sun. If the script of the dream wasn't exactly the same each night, the plot definitely was.

He found that he was forgetting small things. The name of his son. His ex-wife's face, his father's laugh. He wrote down the things that he forgot in a notebook each morning before he pushed off. He needed an anchor to keep himself from getting swept up in one of the dreams. They looked pretty, they looked peaceful and happy, but they weren't his. He was afraid that he would forget everything if he didn't keep his journal, if he didn't know that he was losing memories. The paper would hold them securely for him in ink until they were needed at the end.

At the end of the sixth day he came upon a cabin, smoke slowly rising from its chimney. The sign above the door said:

The Misty Billet
Food, accommodations and supplies

He could rest here and prepare for the remainder of the journey. There were 2 other guests besides his self.

And the cat.

Cold
So, I am sitting in my room
reading, and wondering why is it so cold?

My house is usually cold, but this was downright frigid. I walk downstairs where 2 roommates are finishing up a small dinner party and see that the thermostat is set at 56 DEGREES Fahrenheit! There are only the three of us in the house, and the last time I checked, 3 hours ago, the thermostat was set at 70.

(Which by no chance means that the house is at 70 degrees: 1890 House + No insulation + Oil Heater from the 70's = COLD HOUSE)

Somebody must have accidently hit the dial to lower the temp. Its not like there isn't a blizzard or anything happening outside anyway.

Beanpot
BU 3 - BC 2.

Boston University wins 25th Beanpot (out of 51 tournaments). Boston College made a last ditch effort to come from behind but ran out of time.

Which suits me fine.

Go Terriers!

Final Tally: 1) BU. 2) BC. 3) Harvard. 4) Northeastern.
