Math Dreams
Have you ever dreamed in math?

It has been a while for me, I blame it on the lack of equations and problems in my life. I should be reading, studying and computing. I have these books on the shelf that I have not read, journals that come quarterly that I just glance through. But I don't do hard math anymore. Just quick subtractions and additions.

Of course dreaming in math was not fun. I would wake with half completed equations, using symbols I have never seen. Solutions to problems I did not know existed. These episodes would frequently happen before major exams in Flight Mechanics or Thermodynamics. They were not restful.

Sometimes they would come when I was having a problem solving a matrix, or when I was too tired to keep going and would fall asleep pencil in hand and text book open before me. Those were the worst, as when I awoke, I would believe the problem was solved and try my damnedest to remember the solution and write it down.

The fact that I miss something that was so much a pain is proof that I need to take a class, or open a book and just try and solve something. It has been too long. I have forgotten the basics of flight. The little tricks that I would use to remember, the right hand rule, OAOAHH, and others. I might not know how to solve Navier-Stokes equations, or calculate Mach at 5,000 feet.

I need more math in my life again.

The Mystery of the Green Menace (Wired)
I would like to try this someday, but will most likely have to go to Europe as I doubt anyone is going to make it legal in the US again.

Wisconsin May Open Private Spaceport (Space Daily)
Top 5 reasons that Wisconsin is a great place to launch spacecraft:
  1. It is so close to the Equator
  2. The moon is made of cheese and cheese is made in Wisconsin
  3. Snow and cold are good for O-Rings
  4. Failed rockets that fall into Lake Michigan will add to the pollution levels and kill more fish.
  5. Did I mention cheese?

Time's All Time 100 Novels
I have read 15 of them. This is a bad thing in my mind as I recognize all 85 of the others as books that I should have read by now, and a few of them which I already own but haven't gotten to.

An odd thing about the books I have read are that 2 are mysteries, 3 are scifi/fantasy and 1 is a comic book/graphic novel. Which tells more about my reading habits than anything else.

The full list. (Only novels from 1923 to 2005 are considered for this list)

What I have read on the list:
  • American Pastoral - Roth
  • Big Sleep - Chandler
  • Catch 22 - Heller
  • Catcher in the Rye - Salinger
  • Corrections - Franzen
  • I, Claudius - Graves
  • Invisible Man - Ellison
  • Lord of the Flies - Golding
  • The Lord of the Rings - Tolkien
  • Neuromancer - Gibson
  • 1984 - Orwell
  • Red Harvest - Hammet
  • Snow Crash - Stephenson
  • To Kill a Mockingbird - Lee
  • Watchmen - Moore and Gibbons

Oh that Jack! He just so idiotic.
Thompson breaks his word on $10k bounty, says he was just kidding (Joystiq.com)
Charity as satire, wow, what a heart.

Penny Arcade donates $10,000 in Jack's name to charity (Joystiq.com)
Now these guys have a heart. Also, watch when the evil Jack sues Tycho and Gabe (aka Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik) over donating to a charity in his name. Evil Jack.

Penny Arcade's statement.

Gassed!
I came home tonight to the smell of gas all over the first floor.

Someone left the right front burner on, but not lit. So a deadly gas leak.

It took an hour to clear the smell of gas from the house.

Clean this
I am very fucking annoyed right now.

It was a joke, written on the TV, as I am the only one who ever cleans it.

But no. Someone took it fucking seriously and had to leave notes all over the fucking place.

Well. I cleaned all that fucking shit didn't I? Except the fucking floors. Screw the floors. Not like the dogs fuck shit up left and right.

You clean the floors.

Though someone did a good job on the pantry.
